Wedding Videography FAQ
Do you have any video clips online that I can view? Or can we see recent samples of your work either in person or on a demo DVD? Yes we have video samples both on the video gallery page of this website as well as our blog. You can also request our free info pack which includes a demo dvd and we are always happy for couples to meet with us to watch even more video footage at our studio.
What style do you film in?
In a nutshell, we aim for natural filming of your wedding day. We avoid "posed" shooting but rather record events as they happen in a candid and documentary style.
What kind of camera do you use and how many?
We use three cameras. Our primary cameras are Sony FX1's (high defintion) and we have a back-up third Panasonic 3CCD camera (standard definition) just in case. Two camera coverage (one unmanned) for the ceremony and reception formalities is standard in all our packages. We also offer a third camera for the ceremony.
What's the audio quality like during important moments such as the ceremony and speeches?
Along with the audio that is captured on our cameras, we also record an additional 2 soundtracks of the ceremony with specialised recording devices - One via a lapel microphone on the groom (especially handy during the vows) and another either where the readings will be or on the registry table. We also record an additional soundtrack of the speeches with our recording devices, usually on the lectern itself where the speeches are to be held.
What additional equipment do you use?
Tripods are used during the ceremony and reception formalities. We also use a steadicam (camera stabilisation system) for other moments such as during the photo shoot to aid in obtaining smoother and steadier shots. Generally we don't use video lights to avoid disturbing the "natural flow" of the day and also because it can cause problems for your photographer.
How long will it take to receive our wedding dvd? Depending on the amount of coverage you have generally it takes around 6 - 9 weeks depending on what time of year it is and how busy we are. By contract you will receive your dvd within 3 months of the wedding date or the date from when we have received everything necessary to edit your wedding, e.g. music, full payment etc.
Can we decide how our video is edited?
Editing is a complex, time consuming process that is best left to the professionals but we always welcome as much input as you would like to give us.
Can we choose the music used in our wedding dvd?
YES! Your wedding video is greatly enhanced by the addition of music so we ask all our customers to provide us with a selection to use.
What sort of extras do you offer?
Extras can be a great addition to your wedding video such as highlight reels, photo slideshows and so on. You can check out what extras we offer on the Our Packages page.
Can I get extra copies of our dvd? Couples who book our services with Harris Studios automatically get two free copies of their dvd. We do not put copy-protection on our dvds so you are free to make back-up copies yourself. However we do keep master copies of all productions we make so you are always able to order extra copies from us as most couples do because our copies are produced and presented with the highest quality products to ensure quality and durability.
